Overview
Deck only. No roof, no sidewalls, nothing above the load line, so freight sits on an exposed flush steel surface and can be reached from every angle. The 40FT Platform Container is a flat-deck, heavy-duty transport unit built to move oversized and ultra-heavy cargo that traditional containers cannot accommodate.
Payload capacity is 40,520 kg. A high-tensile flush steel deck sits on a stackable CORTEN steel frame, delivering the structural stability and anchoring performance that demanding industrial, maritime and intermodal logistics work requires. Carrying mobile machinery, project freight or yard staging loads, the unit gives maximum load performance, stackable engineering and full ISO and CSC compliance.
Deck, Frame and Fittings
- Container type: 40FT Platform – flat deck, no roof or walls
- Payload capacity: Over 40 metric tons (40,520 kg)
- Construction: Stackable CORTEN steel frame with high-tensile flush steel deck
- Loading profile: Low deck height (480 mm) for efficient crane and forklift compatibility
- Twistlocks: Built-in for direct cargo lashing
- Certification: CSC and ISO certified for global freight forwarding
- Finish: Standard RAL5013 – custom coatings available upon request
The absence of side and roof panels allows complete multi-angle access. That is what makes the platform suitable for irregular, over-height and over-width cargo loads.
Measured Data
- External dimensions (L × W × H): 12,192 mm × 2,438 mm × 480 mm (40′ × 8′ × 1.57′)
- Deck height: 480 mm (low-profile loading)
- Tare weight: 4,480 kg
- Max payload: 40,520 kg
- Max gross weight: 45,000 kg
- Deck material: High-tensile flush steel
- Structure: Stackable CORTEN steel frame
- Built-in twistlocks: Yes – integrated securing points
- Certification: ISO and CSC certified
Each unit is engineered for repeat loading under concentrated stress points without distortion, a critical advantage for equipment and cargo that exceed standard density thresholds.
What the Structure Does
Flush steel deck
Provides uniform load support across the surface. Designed to resist warping under point-loaded cargo such as tracked vehicles or reinforced skids.
Integrated twistlocks
Allow safe and compliant anchoring of abnormal cargo profiles — cranes, turbines, heavy drums, machinery bases — without additional framing.
Open architecture
With no roof or sidewalls, lateral and overhead loading of bulky or asymmetrical freight is efficient.
Low deck height
Only 480 mm from the ground, reducing lift height for forklifts, side loaders or gantry cranes. Especially beneficial for dense loads requiring tight clearance.
Multimodal compatibility
Built for seamless handling by ships, railcars, yard lifts and flatbed trailers, and for long-haul transit across ports, depots and project sites.
Stackable format
When not in use, platform containers can be stacked securely, optimizing space at logistics yards or staging zones.
Typical Loads
- Heavy equipment and machinery. Designed for the secure transit of excavators, dozers, oversized trucks or tracked vehicles.
- Project cargo logistics. Turbines, generators, transformers and structural components that exceed general ISO container limits.
- Oversized freight. Irregular loads such as steel beams, oilfield skids, container-mounted gensets or long-span assemblies.
- Yard storage and static use. A stable elevated base for temporary machinery, mobile staging or remote-site equipment deployment.
Handling, Safety and Compliance
- Prior to dispatch, every unit is inspected for deck integrity, corner alignment and twistlock tension
- Compliance is to full ISO standard
- CSC certification covers international freight forwarding
- The design is compatible with twistlock chassis and flatbed carriage
- Engineered lashing diagrams and load distribution drawings are available on request
